When what seems an especially difficult problem or a great emergency presents itself, many students of the Truth start by thinking, “This is very serious,” and then proceed to brace themselves mentally for a supreme effort; and plan to pray exceedingly “hard” in order to meet the difficulty.

All this is quite wrong. It simply builds up the problem into something far bigger that it was originally. The right attitude, the one that brings Victory, is to think “God can and will solve this problem.”

Instead of speaking the Word from the low altitude of fear and limitation, and trusting to effort to magnify the Lord, stop thinking of the problem altogether, and rise in consciousness. Having now attained a higher level – speak the Word gently from that level, and your problem will be solved.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful … (Hebrews 4:12).

When faced with a dire threat, do we really believe “God can and will solve this problem”? The answer to this question lies in the way we pray about the problem. Those who truly believe, pray in a quiet and confident way, accepting God’s power to eliminate the threat and sure that any outcome will be for our best good. This does not mean that our prayers should be devoid of emotion and fervor. It does mean that the praying harder or more often is a human-based activity that implies a belief by the supplicant that God has some weakness or inability to act without our continuous and strenuous cries for help.

God knows of our needs that even we do not know. So when we pray, let our faith in God and confidence in God’s promises exude peace and certainty in God’s help. Then, we should roll up our sleeves and get to work on what we must do in the physical realm to address that which concerns us. Just as we pray today that God will keep a mighty hand on this oil spill and continue to push it away from our shores, we must also work to protect and prevent it from fouling our shores if it does come ashore. If we pray and work, then we can live in our gardens in assurance that God is protecting it and empowering us.

In confident prayer,

After Your Healing

Healing is only the beginning. When you are completely healed of everything wrong in your life, your body, your business, difficulties in personal relationships, obvious faults in your own character, you will not have finished your work. Your real work will only be commencing. Your real work is to show and experience the glory of God, to build that spiritual consciousness, “ the house Magnifico.” Conscious fears will have gone, and your whole world will be different. The physical world will be different because it will be clothed in a new glory. “The light that never was on sea or land.” People will be different because you will be beginning to know their real self instead of merely the outer shell, and, of course, everyone else will notice that you are different, too.

This is not to say that healing is unimportant. It has to precede the building. Let us endeavor to get our own healing completed as soon as possible in order to help the world that is needing it so much.

Bless the Lord … who healeth all thy diseases … who crowneth thee with loving kindness… (Psalm 103:2-4)

God does not heal us so we can spend our lives in self-indulgent luxury. God heals us so we can be a temple and help others become a temple for God’s consciousness through right living and out flowing love. We are healed so we can be part of God’s family doing God’s work here below. God heals us so we can live in and tend to our gardens here below in preparation for the heaven we inherit when we give ourselves to God. We are not healed to make things easy but to give us the strength to do what is hard. The reward for all this sacrifice and work is peace here below and eternal joy hereafter. So let us do what is necessary to receive our healing and then commit ourselves to living as disciples and all that goes with it.

Healed and working,
Stan

To abide under the shadow of the Almighty means to live under the protection of God Himself. Eastern people, and especially those with a desert background, such as the people of Palestine, look upon the sun as a danger, even an enemy, from which they need to be safeguarded. Shade is sanctuary, or safety – “the shadow of a mighty rock in a weary land.” The exhausted traveler sinks down in the shade for his long-sought rest.

God is called “The Almighty” in order to impress us with the fact that He really is All-mighty, and can therefore overcome our present difficulty, no matter how big it may seem.

…for with God all things are possible (Mark 10:27).

Consider, however, that the promise is made to “him that dwelleth.” If we only run into the Secret Place now and again, we can scarcely be said to dwell there. God will come to our rescue whenever we pray, but if we seldom think of Him, we may experience difficulty in making our contact in an emergency. By means of daily meditation we dwell in the Secret Place.

Just as the prodigal son returned home and was rescued from his wasteful life by his loving father, God will take us in and help us in times of trouble. But how much better it would been for the son if he had dwelt with his father and never been subjected to failure and fear.

That is the choice which faces each of us. Will we dwell with God, live in God’s presence and follow God’s will in our lives? If we do, then we can enjoy the experience of the son who did dwell with his father and respect his wishes. We shall be successful, safe and will inherit everything. We will live in the garden God created for us.

Now isn’t that better than just being rescued from self-inflicted failure and fear?

Dwelling with God,

Dispelling Loneliness

Dispelling Loneliness

During the Christmas season the heart strings are tugged by many conflicting feelings: the joy of gifts being given, the warmth of time spent with loved ones, yet the sadness and loneliness for loved ones gone; and for those alone, this is the sadness of a whole world gone by.

No matter how deep is the void, no matter how desolate is the pain, the departed Saints and Prophets, the Angels and the warmth of the Holy Spirit are there to comfort you.

No heart is an orphan in this life. The loving arms of God’s Universal Love will enfold you, being your Mother, Brother, Sister and Father, and even your Child. The ways of the world are constantly demanding conformity, and when one does not conform they are often shunned into the desert.

No one is ever alone. The lowest among you are among the highest in the eyes of God. Even the homeless will sleep in God’s palace tonight. To feel this love one need only know that it is there, believe that it is real and accept its healing power.

As we snuggle in the warmth of our homes, surrounded by those we love and experiencing the joys and memories of Christmas, let us constantly keep in our prayers those who are alone, or who have no home, or who suffer loneliness and alienation from their loved ones. And also let us act on those thoughts and prayers to reach out to our brothers and sisters to bring God’s love into their physical world. As Kahlil Gibran said “work is love put into action”.

Let us remember that the family of the Christ child had no place to sleep. At this time when we celebrate Christ’s birth, let us turn our thoughts, prayers, time and treasure to those who need the touch of human love. As God and the Holy Spirit embrace them, let us also wrap our loving arms around them. That which we do for the least of them we do for Jesus.

Loving by doing,

Consistent Building

We are all familiar with the old saying “One step forward and two steps back”. When we indulge negative thoughts, we are engaging in just such a activity. But reality cries out” Hey, only a fool wearing rose colored glasses reacts positively to bad news”. Refusing to harbor negative thoughts is not the same as refusing to accept reality. Rather, It is choosing how we will react to a situation. So we must (and do) choose between reactions that continue to build or those which tear down that which you have built. Negative thinking really is demonstrating lack of faith. It is counterproductive, blinding and crippling. Positive thinking puts our faith to work and it enhances, enlightens and enables us to build a life that is joyful, productive and secure. Or as the once popular song says, “Don’t worry, be happy.” It is more than a song title, it is God’s will.

Moving forward,

Consistent Building

…be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…(Romans 12:2).

This is Paul’s admonition.

Many people understand this in principle, but they fail to demonstrate because they do not carry it out logically in practice. During prayer, they carefully build up the new mental structure, but as soon as their time of prayer is over, instead of faithfully preserving that structure intact they promptly knock it down again by negative thinking. Obviously, a bricklayer could work hard in this fashion year after year without ever accomplishing anything.

If you are failing to demonstrate, it is probably due to the same cause—building followed by wrecking. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds.
