THERE IS A MIGHTY BATTLE going on for your mind. Heaven and earth intersect in your mind; the tugs of both spheres influence your thinking. I created you with the capacity to experience foretastes of heaven. When you shut out the world and focus on My Presence, you can enjoy sitting with Me in heavenly realms. This is an incredible privilege reserved for precious ones who belong to Me and seek My Face. Your greatest strength is your desire to spend time communing with Me. As you concentrate on Me, My Spirit fills your mind with life and peace.

The world exerts a downward pull on your thoughts. Media bombard you with greed, lust and cynicism. When you face these things, pray for protection and discernment. Stay in continual communication with Me whenever you walk through the wastelands of this world. Refuse to worry, because this form of worldliness will weigh you down and block awareness of My Presence. Stay alert, recognizing the battle being waged against your mind. Look forward to an eternity of strife-free living, reserved for you in heaven.

Ephesians 2:6    And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8:6    The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.

1 John 2:15, 17    Do not love the world or anything in the world….the world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

The Singing NetSurfers

I will sing to my Lord as long as I live, I will sing

praise to my God while I have my being.

These things bear repeating; stay in communion with God, refuse to worry and stay alert.

Make no mistake, there is a battle going on within each of us for our will. We must be alert and aware of the enemy’s attacks so we can be prepared and turn to God for help. There is no time, or benefit from worrying in the midst of battle (or any other time), in fact it is harmful, dangerous and may be fatal. It also indicates an uncertainty of faith. We must stay in communication with our leader in this battle and in all of life. No army or any individual can be fully effective if they are cut off from their leader.

If we do these things, then our mind will manifest the perfect intersection between Heaven and earth. This intersection is called Eden. And we can live in these heavenly realms of joy, peace and love; even in the midst of battle.

On Heaven

No, I don’t wish I knew Heaven was like the picture in my Great Divorce, because, if we knew that, we should know it was no better. The good things even of this world are far too good ever to be reached by imagination. Even the common orange, you know: no one could have imagined it before he tasted it. How much less Heaven.

Heaven and God are more wonderful than we can possibly imagine. Any attempt to quantify, or even effectively describe them in human terms, will fall short. Yet, that which we can experience of God and heaven here below are greater than anything else we can experience. And once experienced, will ever draw us toward it. When we respond to that call, then all the joy, peace, hope and love possible become available to us here and now. That is how we experience God and heaven now, and how we prepare for the unimaginable experience of being with God in heaven forever.

Responding to the call,

On Heaven

But God will look to every soul like its first love because He is its first love. Your place in heaven will seem to be made for you and you alone, because you were made for it—made for it stitch by stitch as a glove is made for a hand.

All the love lacked or lost; all of the dreams dashed or deferred; all of the peace denied or delayed; all that is good and right and joyful will be ours when we are one with the one from whom we came.

Being one,

“We know not what we shall be”; but we may be sure we shall be more, not less, than we were on earth. Our natural experiences (sensory, emotional, imaginative) are only like the drawing, like penciled lines on flat paper. If they vanish in the risen life, they will vanish only as pencil lines vanish from the real landscape, not as a candle flame that is put out but as a candle flame which becomes invisible because someone has pulled up the blind, thrown open the shutters, and let in the blaze of the risen sun.

We are now but a mere reflection of our heavenly existence, a three dimensional finite image of an infinite reality; like viewing a three dimensional hologram of something instead of experiencing the actual thing itself.

So, when we find heaven, we will not be something else, we will be the ultimate manifestation of us, our best and true self. Then we will be experiencing instead of looking at a reflection of experience.

No, our candle will not be dimmer, nor will it be something else. It will become the light so bright that the reality around it is fully illuminated. We will become the light yet will remain the candle.

Becoming the light,

On Heaven

The symbols under which Heaven is presented to us are (a) a dinner party, (b) a wedding, (c) a city, and (d) a concert. It would be grotesque to suppose that the guests or citizens or members of the choir didn’t know one another. And how can love of one another be commanded in this life if it is to be cut short at death?

Think of yourself just as a seed patiently waiting in the earth: waiting to come up a flower in the Gardener’s good time, up into the real world, the real waking. I suppose that our whole present life, looked back on from there, will seem only a drowsy half- waking. We are here in the land of dreams. But cock-crow is coming.

Here is what we can know about heaven. First, we can experience an earthly form of it here and now by seeking and following God’s will. Lastly, we can know that everything that is good, joyful, happy, peaceful and fulfilling will exist there in full, and that all the good things in our earthly life will be there in its truest and best manifestation. As for the details, I can patiently wait and excitedly imagine what joy will be there.

Having heaven,
