Dispelling Loneliness
During the Christmas season the heart strings are tugged by many conflicting feelings: the joy of gifts being given, the warmth of time spent with loved ones, yet the sadness and loneliness for loved ones gone; and for those alone, this is the sadness of a whole world gone by.
No matter how deep is the void, no matter how desolate is the pain, the departed Saints and Prophets, the Angels and the warmth of the Holy Spirit are there to comfort you.
No heart is an orphan in this life. The loving arms of God’s Universal Love will enfold you, being your Mother, Brother, Sister and Father, and even your Child. The ways of the world are constantly demanding conformity, and when one does not conform they are often shunned into the desert.
No one is ever alone. The lowest among you are among the highest in the eyes of God. Even the homeless will sleep in God’s palace tonight. To feel this love one need only know that it is there, believe that it is real and accept its healing power.
As we snuggle in the warmth of our homes, surrounded by those we love and experiencing the joys and memories of Christmas, let us constantly keep in our prayers those who are alone, or who have no home, or who suffer loneliness and alienation from their loved ones. And also let us act on those thoughts and prayers to reach out to our brothers and sisters to bring God’s love into their physical world. As Kahlil Gibran said “work is love put into action”.
Let us remember that the family of the Christ child had no place to sleep. At this time when we celebrate Christ’s birth, let us turn our thoughts, prayers, time and treasure to those who need the touch of human love. As God and the Holy Spirit embrace them, let us also wrap our loving arms around them. That which we do for the least of them we do for Jesus.
Loving by doing,
Z gardener
