The third main aspect of God is Love. God is not loving but Love itself, and it would probably be true to say that of all of the seven main aspects this is the most important one for us to practice. There is no condition that enough Love will not heal. The Bible deals with the nature of God, and as the Scripture develops, the idea of God becomes clearer until toward the end it says,
… God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him
1 (John 4:16).
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
(John 13:35).
Where there is fear there cannot be love. The best way to rid yourself of fear is to realize divine Love. If you love God more than you love your microbe, your sickness, your grievance, your lack, or your fear you will be healed. We have all heard many stories of exceptional people who were able to go among wild beasts in the jungle without being hurt, and there are many other histories on record of people who passed through extraordinary dangers of other kinds quite unscathed. To realize God as Love is the remedy for fear.
Divine Love never fails, but the important thing to realize is that divine Love must be in your own heart and cannot operate from outside, so to speak. When your prayers are not answered it must be bec ause you have not fulfilled the conditions of the law, and, ninety-nine times in a hundred, it is because you are lacking in a sense of love for all. Practice love every day and watch your thought, and watch your tongue, and watch your deed, that nothing contrary to love finds expression there.
The amount of love we have in our hearts will be demonstrated in our lives. Through God we have infinite power and capability. However, that power and capability will not flow into our life without love in our hearts. The love we experience in our hearts is the channel through which God’s power flows. The narrower the channel, the less God’s spirit runs through it. When we truly want some outcome in our lives, we must love enough to achieve that result. It is not our ability, looks, charm, discipline or intellect that answers prayers, but it is God’s love flowing through us. And while all the these attributes are desirable, they can all be turned into negativity without being guided by love. Love conquers all, sees all, overcomes all and knows all. When we grow love in our hearts and minds, sew love in our thoughts, words and deeds and show love to all we meet, we overcome fear, lack and loss. It is then that we truly express God’s power here in our Garden and claim the joy and gladness God intends for us.
Growing love’s garden

What does it mean to say God is love in a metaphysical sense? I suspect the answer is more difficult than it might seem.

Nice post!
Thank you for visiting the Good Morning Garden, dear friend. Your query has been on this gardener’s mind for several weeks. The effort to decipher “God is Love” draws one to a physical comparison by which to address the metaphysical nature of God as love.
Buckminster Fuller said that love is the metaphysical equivalent of gravity in the physical realm, and that fear is the equivalent of radiant energy. Gravity orders, organizes, composes, nurtures, unifies, builds, connects, allows creation and holds everything together. Radiant energy damages, degrades, disorganizes, disposes, destroys, disintegrates, disconnects, separates and degenerates to disorder.
So, God is love means all the above in both realms which are always the flip sides of the same coin.
But this writer would offer this cautionary response to all who seek to understand the nature of God, as do I.
Humans have limits in the physical state that will always be a barrier to fully understanding the nature of God. The reason is that humans are finite and self-centered by nature. As phsical creatures, we would inevitably abuse or misuse such knowlege to the detriment of the physical and metaphysical world.
In that sense, trying to fully understand God in our physical state is the equivalewnt of an ape trying to use and understand a nuclear bomb. (No direct comparison intended;-)
So I would offer the following insight from Emmett Fox for your consideration. And remember, it is more important to fully experience love and God than to fully understand them.
Theoretical Centipede
Do not dissect things too much. By the time you have dissected a living thing you have killed it, and you no longer have the thing that you began with. Take a rose out of the bowl, pull its petal apart, count them, weigh them, measure them, and then, while you will have certain interesting information, you no longer have a rose.
There is a place for analysis, but it is apt to be quite fatal in prayer and meditation. Do not dissect the love of God, but feel it. Do not dissect divine intelligence, but realize it. Do not wonder how God can possibly solve this problem, but just watch Him do it in His own way – and He will if you will give Him a chance.
You know that God is Love. So go ahead on that, and do not get too theoretical about it.
Do you remember the old verse that says:
A centipede was happy quite,
Until a frog in fun
Said, “Pray, which leg comes after which?”
This raised her mind to such a pitch,
She lay distracted in the ditch,
Considering how to run.
The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him: and all the upright in heart shall glory (Psalm 64:10).
PS
Question: How man angels can dance on the head of a pin?
Answer: Angels are not limited by physical realities such as space and time so all of them can dance anywhere at any time and in any place.
Real answer: It doesn’t really matter…just love and appreciate them like the rose’s beauty (which also can not be weighed are measured), without undue concern over issues that do not apply to them.
Peace,
Z
